Newletter

Dear Second Grade Families!          My name is Kezia Bohanon and I will be your teacher for second grade! I am very excited to meet you all! I have been teaching for five years. I taught Head Start for three years before coming here to Kennedy where I am in my third year of second grade. I have three children, Caitlynn who is 7, Jacob who is 4, and our new baby boy which will be here any day. Because of our new baby, I will not be there to start school up with you. Instead, Mrs. Johnson will be your teacher until September 24, when I get to come back to work. I am very sad that I don’t get to be there in the beginning, but I know you will have a great time with Mrs. Johnson. I will be checking in on at least weekly to see how everything is going, and I will drop in to say hi every now and then also!           Parents, the second grade school supply list has changed just a little from last year. If you have any questions or concerns about the list, please feel free to contact me via email or by leaving a message at the school. I will get back with you as soon as possible to answer any questions. Email is the quickest way to get a hold of me if you have it available to you. I am sending an information sheet that I will use frequently throughout the year to get in contact with you. If you could please fill it out and send it in on the first day of school with your child I would greatly appreciate it! This will help ensure that your child gets home the correct way and that I can get in contact with you.           Just a few things that we will be doing this year are mastering our addition and subtraction math facts through 20; mastering 300 sight words; learning to tell time; writing from sentences to multiple paragraph compositions; learning about bugs, the weather, presidents, and landforms; and much much more! I am sending a list of the sight words and math facts that we will need to have mastered before winter break so you can get a head start! We will be very busy this year and with much hard work, you will leave second grade brilliant!            Once again, I look forward to seeing you when school starts and having a great year!                                                                    Sincerely,                                                                   Mrs. Bohanon                                                                   Second Grade Teacher                                                                   Room 209
